Privacy Policy

1. Information we collect

None. Cashback Counter has no account system, no sign-up, no login and no telemetry. We do not collect your name, email address, device identifiers, advertising identifiers, location, contacts, transactions, card details or usage analytics.

2. Information stored on your device

The app stores the data you enter — transactions, income records, credit cards and their reward rules, points balances, receipt photos you attach, and your app settings — in a local database on your iPhone. This data is controlled entirely by you. Deleting the app removes it from the device.

3. iCloud sync

iCloud sync is enabled by default. When it is on, your app data is stored in a private CloudKit database inside your own Apple Account and synchronised across your devices. Ascidean LLC has no access to that database and no ability to read its contents. Apple's handling of it is governed by theApple Privacy Policy.

You can turn iCloud sync off at any time in the app's Settings screen, after which data remains only on the device.

4. On-device AI, and the optional cloud model

Receipt and statement parsing runs locally on your device using Apple's Foundation Models framework. Receipt images processed this way never leave your iPhone.

The app also offers an optional setting, Cloud AI parsing, which isdisabled by default. If you enable it, receipt parsing requests are sent to Apple's Private Cloud Compute. Private Cloud Compute is end-to-end encrypted and designed so that neither Apple nor Ascidean LLC can read the contents of the request, and Apple does not retain the data. If the cloud model is unavailable, the app falls back to the on-device model automatically. You can switch this setting off at any time.

5. Network requests the app makes

Aside from the optional cloud model above, the app contacts the network only to:

• fetch public currency exchange rates, so foreign spending can be converted;
• fetch the shared credit-card template list published in our public GitHub repository;
• download card artwork images referenced by those templates.

None of these requests include your transactions, balances, card numbers or any personal information. They are ordinary requests for public files, and the providers hosting them may record standard server log information such as your IP address, as any web server does.

6. Notifications

If you allow notifications, the app schedules reminders — such as points-expiry warnings — on your device. Granting or denying this permission does not affect any other function.

7. Third-party services and tracking

Cashback Counter contains no advertising, no analytics SDKs, no crash-reporting services and no social-media trackers. We do not participate in any advertising network and we never sell or share data, because we never receive any.

8. Children

The app is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect information from anyone, of any age.

9. Your control over your data

Because your data never reaches us, you do not need to ask us to access, correct or delete it. You can export your transactions and cards to CSV from within the app at any time, delete individual records, disable iCloud sync, or delete the app to remove everything locally. Data held in your iCloud account can be managed through your Apple Account settings.

10. Verifying these claims

Cashback Counter is open source. Rather than take this policy on trust, you can read the code that implements it athttps://github.com/RayTracingON/CashbackCounter.

11. Changes to this policy

If this policy changes materially, we will update the date at the top of this page and note the change in the app's release notes.
